Duo
Sonora can offer a number of different programmes to suit various environments
and audiences. For the 2008-2009 season we have put together three programmes,
each with
a different focus.
Anette Kormann
and Maria Sennvall started their work together with "Ten Blake Songs"
by the English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, written for voice with
a wind instrument. Sinced Anette and Maria had studied together in England,
the choice of English music felt natural.Since then the repertoire has
expanded to include music by Bach, Ibert and Roussel as well as Swedish
folk chorals, which have given the duo its special colour. A musical dialogue,
weaving classical and folk pieces to a glittering weave.
The combination
of unaccompanied voice and flute could be considered rather unusual, but
is filled with possibilities. We have taken some liberties, and re-arranged
pieces originally composed for other ensembles. The Swedisn folk chorals
are very well suited for this ensemble, performed as a dialogue, where
the flute emphasises the message in the lyrics. Since neither a piano
or an organ is needed for the performance, Duo Sonora is very flexible
in terms of location, and can even perform outdoors, weather allowing.
